Kim Heyes, ManMet colleagues and Youth Mental Health Matters recently conducted some consultation groups with young people, professionals, and parents about what they think mental health services should look like for young people.

The groups were run by young people who had experience of using services, and they also helped us to co-produce the design of the questions, and co-wrote the final report. We found that most participants thought the current system was already struggling, and in the times of covid-19, there is expected to be an unprecedented demand for these services. The young people in our consultation talked about the use of digital support, the language used by health professionals and how schools could be utilised for providing basic support.
