An Academy of Social Justice Commissioning seminar, supported by PERU and featuring Dave Nicholson, Director of Cooperative & Mutual Solutions

In this free seminar Dave will review the use of prisoner co-owned employment cooperatives as a mechanism for supporting the resettlement of prisoners and enabling longer term processes of desistance. During his talk Dave will also discuss case studies drawn from established through-the-prison-gate prisoner co-owned cooperatives in Italy and Sweden.

He will then look at implications for UK policy and practice and review UK pilots in prison and in the community to consider how this learning can translate into improvements for policy design and service delivery in a criminal justice context; and crucially, to inform new ways of working to support social integration and desistance.
