Kirstine Szifris has been appointed the vice-Chair of Prisoner Learning Academic Network (PLAN). This network is hosted by the Prisoners’ Education Trust and aims to develop a multi-disciplinary network of academics interested in prison education. PLAN are hosting their first event at Westminster University today entitled “Challenging Narratives of Prison Education”, a seminar that brings together some leading voices in Criminology and Education to challenges the prevailing narrative of prison education. Over 70 people have signed up to the event which will be followed up by a seminar hosted by Manchester Met in September focusing on the challenge of translating pedagogy into practice. The final seminar in the series will be hosted in a prison and will focus on prisoner voice.
