What is the need?
The Intensive Alternatives to Custody (IAC) programme aimed to provide an intensive and credible alternative to short prison sentences (under 12 months). The approach was piloted in a number of areas. PERU was part of the team that evaluated the programme.
What are we doing?
The evaluation included a process evaluation, impact feasibility study and an economic evaluation.

The evaluation took place between 2009 and 2011

PERU was part of an evaluation team led by Sheffield Hallam University. The evaluation was commissioned by the Ministry of Justice.
