PERU's Kevin Wong co-authors a new Academic Insights paper for Her Majesty's Inspectorate of Probation


The latest publication in Her Majesty’s Inspectorate of Probation (HMIP) Academic Insights series is: Needs assessment: risk, desistance and engagement  authored by PERU’s Kevin Wong and Rachel Horan PERU associate researcher and Director of the Averment Group.  Their briefing recognises the importance of effective and robust assessment for planning and service delivery with people with convictions. It identifies the potential for improvements to assessment processes. This includes: the possibilities and challenges of integrating Risk-Needs-Responsivity and desistance principles; and the role that assessment can play in facilitating effective engagement through: co-production, the demonstration of care, and the starting point for building a relationship.
