Throughout this week PERU will be hosting a series of events as part of Her Majesty’s Prison and Probation Service Insights ’19 Festival.

On Tuesday 14th May we will be hosting the Academy of Social Justice Commissioning Seminar: Identity Psychology in Probation: Implications for working with personality disorder with guest speakers Shadd Maruna, Professor of Criminology at Queen’s University, Belfast and Emma Cluley, Managing Editor of Probation Journal.

On Thursday 16th May we will be launching our Reducing Reoffending Website at our seminar ‘What Works in Reducing Reoffending: Evidence and Evaluation’. Speakers will include PERU staff Professor Chris Fox and Professor Stephen Morris; Daniella Sinagoga, Head of Performance and Research, Interserve; and Robin Moore, Head of Research at Her Majesty’s Inspectorate of Probation.

On Friday 17th May PERU’s Kevin Wong and Gavin Bailey will be hosting a virtual seminar for practitioners and policy makers on ‘How do I get published in an Academic Journal?’.

Later on Friday Graham Smyth, Programme Leader for Manchester Met’s Master’s in Criminology Programme, and Roxy Legane, a current Master’s student, will be hosting a virtual seminar on ‘What’s it like to undertake a Masters in Criminology’.

And every Thursday throughout May, PERU’s Kevin Wong and Gavin Bailey will be hosting the Manchester CRIME and JUSTICE Film Festival. These free events will give an alternative take on crime, justice and punishment in the 21st century – and at the same time share the enjoyment of a good movie. All films will be shown from 6pm-8.30pm at Number 70 Oxford St. Pasties from the charity HM Pasties will be available to buy at the venue from 5pm.
