This study is funded by the Education Endowment Foundation and conducted jointly with Ben Smith, Senior Statistician at AlphaPlus consulting.  It looks at the design consequences for trials that stem from the choice of metric with which attainment at GCSE is measured – ‘marks’ or ‘grade’; where GCSE attainment is declared a primary or co-primary outcome for a study.  This project involved, in part, reviewing all EEF trials from which results have either been published or for which a trial protocol/statistical analysis plan is available.

The results of this review are contained in an excel spreadsheet and available here.
